Useful Advice for the Hanok Experience

For the visit to Hanok Village

  • 한옥 마을은 관광지이기에 앞서 지역 주민들의 거주공간입니다
    Hanok Village is not only a tourist destination
    but also a residential area.
    Please uphold the visiting hours. (From 10am to before sunset)
  • 사전 양해 없이 개인 공간을 몰래 촬영하지 마세요
    Please do not take a photo of
    private spaces without prior consent.
    Please refrain from taking photos of the inside of a house through an open door or of a front yard over a wall so as to preserve the open character of the hanok.
  • 가져온 쓰레기는 꼭 챙겨가세요
    Please do not litter.
    The impression made by a space begins with the basics so please help us in maintaining the clean and beautiful impression made by the hanok. Place your litter in a garbage bin or take it with you.
  • 마을 골목길에서는 소근소근
    Please speak quietly in the alleyways.
    Sound travels easily in narrow alleyways. Please speak quietly and do not use loudspeakers or microphones.

    Please join us in our efforts to preserve hanok.
    Old hanok houses are valuable historic materials. As such, many of them have been designated as cultural heritages, historic sites, folklore materials, and monuments.Please familiarize yourself with the facilities before your visit and take special care not to damage them.
  • 아이들에게 선생님이 되어주세요
    Please be a teacher to children.
    Children may be unfamiliar with the Hanok Experience. A traditional hanok might lack certain modern conveniences such as modern toilets or shower facilities in order to preserve its original state. During their stay, visitors should be careful not to damage the cultural heritage. When you accompany a child, please make sure the child understands the meaning of the Hanok Experience in advance. It will be a great and memorable experience for children.

    Please be considerate of other visitors and local residents.
    During your stay in a hanok, please refrain from participating in any harmful activities such as gambling or making a loud noise that might disturb other people, and make sure that your visit takes place before sunset. Please be considerate and do not disturb neighboring residents or other visitors.
  • 위험 없이 안전하게 머물러주세요
    Please avoid hazards and stay in safety.
    The great majority of traditional hanok structures are wooden buildings, so there is a great risk of fire. Therefore, do not use fire to cook a meal or smoke a cigarette without the owner’s prior consent. Due to the risk of fire, it might be prohibited to bring food that needs cooking. Moreover, all pets are prohibited except guide dogs.
